About Us In March of 2004 we opened One World Pizza. At that time, we came into One World with many years of local pizza delivery experience. We also brought with us the opinions that using low price, less desirable ingredients would not be something we would be providing just to make a profit. Our cheese is of the highest quality, our dough is made in house everyday. What we have for sell is our best. Due to the nature of the business, our best is seldom not to our standards but we sleep well knowing at that time our best was delivered. When we were searching for a name for our pizza parlor we wanted to find one that paralleled our vision. We are most comfortable in diverse communities. Amalia grew up in South America and Matt spent most of his years in Urbana-Champaign. (which is kind of like its own little country of melted culture). We wanted to stand out from other pizza places. So we gradually started to feature specialty pizzas with an International style. Our menu became more diverse as time went by. It was not our intention to break pizza tradition but perhaps break the pizza mold. Pepperoni and Italian sausage took on different rolls independent of the American style pizza way before its popularity became so wide spread. So why stop with pepperoni and sausage. We began providing Tandoori Chicken, Chorizo, Kim Chi, Bulgogi Beef and it didn't and won't stop there. Also we wanted to make it affordable and convenient for the U of I students by having late night specials, and by staying open late on weekends. Today the buzz that we've created is expanding more and more. We continue to do our best in providing good service at a good price, and we continue searching for pizza ingredients that will tempt those who are also happy to live and explore within our diverse culture and also for those who are craving a taste of home. Any suggestions? With respect and admiration, The Thompsons |
